It is another beautiful day here in the Alpine village of Trento.  The weather this whole month has been simply fabulous.  And the early afternoon sun is providing some fantastic photo opportunites of various landmarks around town.    Many of these sites I have passed by before but this is one of the few times I have had a chance to photograph them.

I do not know the history nor the names of many of these places.  But their architecture is really nice to look at.

You will also notice that several buildings are under reconstruction around town. There is also a substantial number of new buildings being built in and around the town.  I guess that speaks for the growth that is happening in the region.

Some of the buildings in town are also labelled in German, showing the Austrian-Tyrol roots of the region.

One note about the television here.  On weekday mornings you can catch Bloomberg TV all in Italian.  If you get up early enough, CNN and some of the American broadcast network evening news programs are aired, in their original English. Larry King comes on at about 03h in the morning.  Unfortunately, the last couple of times I caught it, the program was interviewing stars like Nicole Kidman and George Clooney.  Where are the days when he used to interview interesting people with something to say.

Much to my pleasant surprise, a bike race was starting in Piazza Duomo.  These photographs are at the start of the race.  You can even see some pigeons flying around in the top right corner of one of the photos.

I don't know exactly who was sponsoring the race but it seemed like a young crowd was participating.  I didn't see anyone over 20 in the race.

Television crews were there to record the race. They were all using betacamcorders so this was not a live broadcast.  Although I saw some of the race on television later in the week.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out with me wee clan of Irish.  We spent the day playing Trivial Pursuit and a really neat game called Balderdash.  Needless to say, I didn't pull out the camera again as we would've had a number of self taken photos again.

Here in the photograph on the right  you can catch a glimpse of Conor and Mark hard at work at the pub.
