The past couple of days have certainly been interesting. Yesterday
a cloud hung over the valley and mountains here in the northern Italian
Alps.
The
walk to the office was really impressive seeing all these low hanging clouds
invading our territory.
At least it didn't rain yesterday and the clouds soon dissipated and by
nightfall the skies were so clear and the full moon shining so brightly
it was like a late sparkling evening.
Stephen had bought a number of birthday party invitations with Gabriella and had written out the invitations for the party on Weds night. Today he disseminated them amongst his friends on the football (soccer) field. It sounds like we are going to have quite the turn out for the party.
Today we headed into Trento centre. We had planned on delivering
the picture frames to our friends at the Accademia hotel but the kids had
forgot to bring the bag with them when they came to my office.
So
instead of handing those out today we headed off to the local specialty
candy store so they could purchase some of the unique candies they won't
see much of in the states.
We ended up at the main piazza where the local duomo is and started taking
what will amount to our final photos of Trento on this trip.
We haven't gone inside the duomo as we are not certain that we can. But the view is splendid here in the piazza as the church itself takes up a considerable amount of space.
I tried to take some panoramic shots that I could paste together. But... with the angles and the sun light that was next to impossible.
So you get to see the duomo, split up over a variety of shots here. They may run into each other, but, that's the way it goes!
We came home and had dinner. Steak and pasta with our typical
salad. Kristie has started to not want to eat the salad these past
few days. We had stopped off at the supermercato for some bread as
we didn't' have any. I washed the dishes in the sink. Let the
plug out of the soapy side and looked down to wonder why I was standing
in water!
Blast, the water was coming in from under the sink! I opened the
cabinet doors and saw the water bubbling up from the cheap plastic plumbing.
When are people going to start learning that it isn't worth it to use plastic
for plumbing.
I guess not in my lifetime. I tried calling the owner, but there
was no answer. So then I took a look at the plumbing and figured
I'd take a shot at fixing it. Well, I temporarily managed to get
the water to not leak out. Emptied the other sink and we headed out
to the park across the street.
There Stephen played with a couple of the kids in the football field
as Kristie and I tossed the frisbee around. We ran into Enrico, the
little 2 year old from the other side of the apartment building.
He tossed the frisbee with us for a while. Then the 'love puppy'
came around. We call it the love puppy because it is this little
pekinese-type dog that simply adores affection and he has the snuggling
grunt that he makes as he wants the kids to pet him.
His
owner is a nice man, probably in his 40s, that comes by the park almost
every evening with the dog. Enrico was terrified by the pooch and
it took considerable convincing that this little tiny dog was not going
to hurt him. Apparently he had had a bad experience with a large
dog before.
We came back to the apartment and I ran some water and sure enough the plumbing was leaking. I called the owner and he was in this time. He came over and fixed it himself. Now I see how the plumbing here is put together so hopefully I can fix this problem again if it happens. Hopefully not.
The kids are in bed, and I'm about ready to hit the sack myself. Ciao!
