Quite
a bit has happened in the past week since our last journal entry.
Mike and Maria came in from Koeln to visit. They arrived Saturday
morning. We spent the day in Trento walking around and showing them
the sights and eating the great food. We stopped by our swan pond
to feed the birds there. The kids had a big stash of bread they had
been saving up and were ready to feed the birds. It had been a while
since we had been back to the city centre. We also dropped by the
Accademia and said hello to the friendly people there. Mike and Maria
stayed in a hotel near our apartment here in Gardolo.
Sunday we caught a bus out to Molveno. I was surprised to see how inexpensive it was for the five of us to travel round trip. We played some minature golf. Kristie is either very good at golf or was exteremely luck. Perhaps we have a new LPGA tournament winner in the works? The weather wasn't too good for parasailing so we saw only one person that came down. We ate lunch and then the rains really came down, pretty much the rest of the day. We ended up hanging out at our apartment the rest of the day. Mike and Maria were scheduled to leave Monday on a sleeper train but Mike was very sick and they left earlier. I haven't heard from them since but I hope he is okay.
Otherwise things haven't changed much. We're back to our daily routine of work and play. This weekend I'm planning on going to Padova to spend Sunday there. We'd pass by it on the way to Venezia but I don't want to pass by that town without seeing it so we'll make a special day trip for it.
I
still don't have a telephone at the apartment. Vincenzo helped me
this week and I think it should be turned on by the weekend. I will
try to log in and finally upload these journals. The kids mom called
us while we were at the park this evening.
Also, Stephen hasn't been keeping up with the journal entries because he has made a number of friends his age here on the soccer fields during the day with Gabriella. They even come by after dinner to see if we can come out to play. So we do and then we end up staying out way past their bed time. So by the time we come home it is too late to sit him down at the computer to input his thoughts. I was hoping that he could be more active on the computer but playing with his new found friends is a better activity for him.
Tonight we had gone out with some of his friends to the park. It turns out the soccer field was being readied for a soccer game this evening. It was to start at 20h00 and the little kids were not allowed to play because they had put down the chalk lines. So the kids played in the side grass until one of them threw a fit and quit the game for some reason I'm still not clear about.
Today's picture list included a number of pix from our trip this past weekend so I highly recommend clicking on the link below to see them.
