Not surprisingly, I have had a number of requests on hotel recommendations. Since I am not a full service travel agency ... how can I possibly recommend one? Plus, peoples ideas of what is or what is not expensive are different. MOST travel agents can help you make reservations at any hotel in Paris and since their service is free I would recommend using them. American Express has an office at metro Opera that can also help you with booking hotels for a nominal fee. Here is a useful link though. Look up a phone number from France's telnet Minitel Internet Gateway or WWW Page where you can download Windows software for using the MINITEL on the internet! The MINITEL is the electronic equivalent of a phone book. France, ahead of its time, has had the minitel for over a decade now. Then again, for non-french speakers the MINITEL may be difficult to use even though it has an English language option. Please, do not ask me for directions since I would have to telnet in myself to experiment. But, given that, here are some things to remember when using the MINITEL. For the line that reads LOCATION provide the name PARIS or an ARR number such as 78015 for the 15th, 78004 for the 4th and so on. I received this pointer to a web site which may be useful to you:
