The weather cleared up amazingly today.  We went from cold, clammy weather to absolutely bright and beautiful sunshine with a temperature around 29C.  Incredibly great weather.  And the natives were out and about Köln.  The photo on the left is of some kind of puppet show and the giant Carnivale like figure was walking around promoting it.

The Hyatt Regency hotel at Rheinpark has a jazz festival going on this summer.  Most of the jazz bands are German.  This particular band in the right photo was playing Dixieland style jazz.  Quite nice.  But in the hot summer sun, it was hard to stand around and watch them.

There is a small train you can ride around Rheinpark.

And, tonight was the big karaoke competition at Flanagans pub.  The prize is 2 round trip tickets to Ireland.  In the photo on the right Peter is singing Yesterday by the Beatles.

You can see the tv setup for the karaoke from this angle.

You can see there is quite a crowd at Flanagans tonight.  Unusual for karaoke night!  I am singing Daydream Believer by the Monkees.

Paul and David got into the spirit of things eventhough they were not part of the competition.  Paul is on the left, David on the right.

And from a long shot off.

Here Peter is showing off his t-shirt that he won for competing.  I have an identical t-shirt too!

And here we are wearing our Guinness t-shirts.

Paul enjoying a pint of Guinness.

And currently at the microphone is the winner of the 2 roundtrip tickets to Ireland.  He was a good singer.

Another shot of all of us who competed.

One last group photo of the competitors in the Karaoke 1998 competition.
